Beige

In addition to being a pretty boring color, I decided today that I will officially never have beige carpet. We cleaned our carpet today. Not all of it, just the front room. But here are the factors that contributed to my, uh dismay when we moved the couch and found out just how dirty we are.
1) Michael and I have been in our little apartment just over a year now. You know how dirty other things can get in a year, so does carpet.
2) We have a dog. Unlike cats, they are NOT noted for the cleanliness factor. Not that ours is dirty, just that he's a dog.
3) Michael works at Coca Cola. If you have ever seen the warehouse floors there, you understand. If not, I'll briefly describe it to you. Just imagine a floor in a warehouse full of beverages. Now, occasionally, accidents happen, and beverages are spilled. Sometimes they don't get cleaned up right away. Now imagine what your shoes look like walking through occasional spilled, sugary beverage, inside a warehouse. And I keep insisting he needs to take his shoes off at the door. In fact, as of yesterday, I'm forcing him to take his shoes off at the door.
Combine all three factors and you will understand why parts of our carpet were slightly more than beige. In my mind, imagining future beige carpet with the dog, Michael, and kids, it just doesn't work. I'm thinking the elephant gray from Merrill Hall wasn't such a bad idea.

  1. I knew there was a reason that that carpet was so ugly!

Maybe it used to be beige too! :)

  2. Sarah, eww. I've seen beige carpet that you didn't know was beige. It was a long time ago, in a hotel somewhere in a different state. Anyways, Brandon spilled some rootbeer while we were there, and when my mom cleaned it up, the carpet was beige where it had spilled and an unidentifiable shade of brown-grey everywhere else. Needless to say, we all wore our shoes the rest of the time we were there.
